DELTA A PEDALI 6 days – 5 nights

This is a cycling itinerary to discover the Po Delta Park in Emilia Romagna, for those who love nature and want to try the enjoyment of a “slow” journey!
There are many routes to discover by bike: suitable for families, singles or groups. You can face any itinerary with your step. You can plan a flexible holiday: all the week or just a weekend.You can find many services: bike and e-bike rental, a cycling guide at your disposal during the journey. You can experience and discover the Po Delta. This is one of the most charming environments in Italy, especially for its nature, history and gastronomy.

1. Mesola – Lido delle Nazioni

The tour begins with a pleasant cycling among the trees of the ancient Mesola Wood. In the past it was the exclusive hunting reserve of the Este court. Here you can find: deer, badgers, frogs, tritons, turtles and many birds hidden and protected in the thick vegetation. The tour goes on to the small hamlet “Taglio della Falce” and from here along the Adriatic coast. You can go through the lush pine forest and then through the sea resorts “Lidi di Comacchio”, until you reach the hotel. Relax at the beach.
Possibility of: excursion with small boats to the mouth of the Po river; exclusive excursion with a minibus in Mesola Wood Reserve into the area closed to the public; visit to the Mesola Castle; visit to the Pomposa Abbey.

2. Lido delle Nazioni – Comacchio
You will go by bike from Lido delle Nazioni to Porto Garibaldi, then you will take the ferry to reach Lido degli Estensi. The trip will continue along the panoramic route that runs along the Saline up to Stazione Foce, in the heart of the Comacchio lagoons. Here you will discover the mysteriousworld of the eel. The landscape is characterized by small banks and brackish water lakes. Here you could also observelots of species of birds: seagulls, herons, marsh hawks, ducks and finally the flamingos, the “lords” of these extraordinary environments. You will go along Valle Fattibello levee to reach the charming town of Comacchio for a pleasant walk over bridges and canals to see its main monuments.
Possibility of: boat excursion in the lagoon of Comacchio; visit to the Museum Manifattura dei Marinati (Pickling factory); visit to the Museum Delta Antico.

3. Comacchio – Marina Romea
From Comacchio you will reach the village of Sant’Alberto cycling along the Agosta levee. This route runs beside the lagoon letting you enjoy a landscape made of water and sky and characterized by the presence of many species of birds.The ferry on the river Reno will lead you to the village ofSant’Alberto where you can visit the Museum NatuRa with its precious ornithological collections. The itinerary continues to the ancient Pinewood of San Vitale and the Pialassa Baiona, a characteristic wetland in the Ravenna area. Evening in Marina Romea.

4. Marina Romea – Ravenna, city of arts
By bike you will reach Ravenna. A whole day free to discover one of the most important art cities in Italy which preserves the richest heritage of mosaics dating back to the fifth and sixth centuries. The city houses 9 UNESCO World Heritage monuments.
Possibility of: guided tour of Ravenna and its main monuments; guided tour of the Ancient Port of Classe and the Classis Museum.

5. Ravenna – Cervia
You will leave Ravenna to reach Cervia cycling through the Pinewood of Classe and the Ortazzo and Ortazzino Oasis, near the mouth of the Bevano river. This is an area of great charm and naturalistic value.
Possibility of: guided tour of the Pinewood of Classe and to the Oasis; visit to the Museum House of butterflies at Milano Marittima.

6. Cervia, city of the sweet salt
You will spend a day in the town of Cervia. Here you can taste local products and discover the characteristic “sweet salt” as an important element for health and well-being. You can have the opportunity to make an excursion in the “Salina” by bike, enjoying the magical landscape of the Po Delta Park, and discovering a place of tradition and history. You could also experience a relaxing moment in the thermal pool of the “Terme di Cervia”, with the sea water coming from the nearby Salina.
Possibility of: guided tour in Salina by electric boat; access to the Cervia Thermal Baths and the large thermal pool; Wellness treatments with Cervia salt.
